Cookie Policy

Effective date: 27 April 2026

This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies PayTrader uses on paytrader.net, why we use them, and how you can control them. It does not apply to our mobile app (see the mobile section below).

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include localStorage, sessionStorage, and device fingerprinting. The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) require us to obtain your consent before storing or accessing any non-essential information on your device.

What we use on paytrader.net

PayTrader does not currently use advertising cookies or analytics trackers. The only non-essential external resource on our landing site is Google Fonts.

Name / Resource Category Provider Purpose Fires on load?
paytrader-cookie-consent (localStorage) Essential PayTrader (first-party) Stores your cookie preference so we don't re-prompt on every visit. Yes — essential, no consent required.
Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com) Functional Google LLC Serves our brand typeface (DM Sans and DM Serif Display). Google Fonts does not set advertising cookies. Your IP address is transmitted to Google's servers to serve the font files. No — loaded only after your consent.
Marketing / advertising SDKs Marketing None None used at this time. N/A

How to manage your preferences

When you first visit paytrader.net a banner will appear at the bottom of the screen. You can:

You can change your mind at any time by clicking "Manage cookies" in the footer of any page on paytrader.net. Your preference is stored for 12 months, after which we will ask again.

You can also clear all stored preferences by clearing your browser's localStorage under your browser's privacy / developer settings.

Mobile app

The PayTrader mobile app does not use advertising or analytics SDKs at launch. The only data stored on your device is your encrypted authentication token (stored in Expo SecureStore, not accessible by other apps) and Expo's push notification identifier (used only to deliver in-app notifications to your device, and only acquired after you sign in). Neither constitutes a "cookie" for the purposes of PECR, and no consent is required.

A tripwire test (apps/mobile/__tests__/no-prelaunch-sdks.test.ts) will fail CI if a blocked analytics SDK is added to the mobile app without first implementing a consent gate.

Browser-level controls

All modern browsers allow you to block or clear cookies and localStorage. Please refer to your browser's help pages for instructions.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when we add new technologies or our practices change. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised.
